Normandy Park Swim Team

In conjunction with the Greater Seattle Summer Swim League, NPSC has a competitive swim program for NPSC members. Emphasis is on fun through exercise, improvement in skills, competition, team spirit and involvement with other kids. Swimmers learn the four competitive strokes plus racing starts and turns. All swimmers must be able to pass the swim test, which includes swimming the length of the pool and treading water for five minutes to attend swim practices and meets.

We have a place for all NPSC members in our summer swim program and welcome all who are interested to come to a workout, meet the coaches, and join the fun!

2024 Practice Schedule

Pre-season schedule May 13 – June 18:

Seniors, 14 & Under and 12 & Under* – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 3:00-4:15 pm

12 & Under* and 10 & Under – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 4:15-5:00 pm

8 & Under – Tuesday and Thursday 4:15-5:00 pm

Speedy Sixers – Thursdays 4:30-5:00 pm starting May 30

*for 12U swimmers, they are encouraged to attend the 3:00pm practice, but we realize not all kids can get there at that time.  Please pick one practice time to attend (3:00 or 4:15) that works for your family.

Starting June 19:

Seniors, 14 & Under and 12 & Under  –  7:00 – 8:15 am Monday through Friday
10 & Under –  8:15 – 9:15 am Monday through Friday
8 & Under – 9:15 – 10:00 am Monday through Friday
Speedies – 10:00 – 10:30 am Monday through Friday

Speedy Sixer Program

To be eligible for the Speedy Sixer Program:

  • Swimmers must be age 5 or 6 as of June 15
  • Swimmer must be able to swim the length of the pool using any stroke without assistance of the lane line or wall.
  • If you want your speedy sixer to swim as an 8 and under, contact the head coach to determine if eligible to swim up. Swim team fees will apply.
  • Swim at home meets only.
  • Can choose which strokes to swim at the meet
    • 25 yard Freestyle between events 24 and 25
    • 25 yard Stroke of Choice between events 34 and 35–swimmers pick which stroke they want to swim

Team Suit & Apparel

As always, a team suit is completely optional. Suits will not be available for purchase at the pool. Team suits will be available in our team store on the SwimOutlet website. 

We trial suits for swimmers to try on if you are unsure of what size to order for them. Please ask the guards in the office for the suits.

Please remember the following while trying on suits:

  • All tags need to remain on the suits
  • Please have your child wear their underwear while trying them on

Swim Team Sleepover

Following the last home meet of the season (July 23, 2024) , there is an annual swim team sleepover for swim team members.

All team members must have a permission slip and fee paid to participate.  Swimmers under 13 must have a designated adult sleeping at the pool that is responsible for them.
